Even though Gina cancels her wedding mere days before the ceremony, she's determined to keep her reservation for a famous honeymoon suite in Dallas.

Enter Race, a Texas cowboy who cleans up rather well, and who declares himself her substitute groom for the week.

Thinking her best friend hired Race, Gina goes along with the fun - at first. But is Race really who he seems? Why is Gina's ex-fiance staying at the same hotel? And just how far is Gina prepared to go with Race and that model-worthy face of his on their "honeymoon"?

The RentAGroom edition by Jennifer Blake Literature Fiction eBooks

Downloaded this when it was offered free one day. It's a quick read and an "ok" romance. I wasn't blown out of the water by the characters or the story. The author was a little too descriptive for me...especially during the "love" scene. If you're looking for a quick read and not looking to getting emotionally involved...then I would choose this as a book to pass time with. It's not the greatest but it is not the worst either.

Summary: Gina, an accountant with "principles", decides to stay in the honeymoon suite that she had paid for even after she catches her fiance and maid of honor in an affair. Then a stranger shows up at her door, Race Bannister, who informs her that someone has paid for him to be her "groom"/date for the day....because supposedly, the former fiance, Bradley, decides to stay at the same hotel with his new bride (the maid of honor). What is that saying where you have to "suspend disbelief"? You're going to have to do that with this book....there are just moments throughout the book that wouldn't normally happen. And because of these moments, the characters and story were just ok for me.

The RentAGroom edition by Jennifer Blake Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

A very cute short novel about love at first sight, Rent-A-Groom resembles a fairytale. I read a lot of books (lost count of the number really) and this one falls in the category of "fluffy bunny feelings". (**shivers**) Someone once told me that my tastes in books is a little dark (an author). After I read this book, I would agree with her. If I could remember that author's name, I would read her book just because she pays attention.
Ms. Blake provides the story with a perfect, virginal woman who has perfect morals and a great looking, protective male in the perfect setting for true love. Not a whole lot of action and little violence, the story still manages to remain interesting. The perfect fairytale...but not a memorable book
If you love fairytales, and true love from first sight and can look passed the "no way in hell would this ever would happen" (after all, it is fiction) this story is perfectly perfect. (I'd like to point out I got this was a free book!)
I'm going to expose myself to some gratuitous violence now.
Zeth, where are you?
Happy reading my fellow bookworms!
I absolutely loved this story! It's true that aspects of it are a little unrealistic, but if you're willing to suspend disbelief for a few hours, this book makes for perfect reading. Gina is a good girl. She is an accountant, and fits every stereotype there is about accountants; she's straight laced, detail oriented, likes things to be orderly, and plans every detail of her life. When she discovers her fiancé in bed with her maid of honor, Gina breaks off her engagement, and all her plans for the perfect wedding and life go up in smoke. Two weeks later, the bastard and the tart marry and are spending their honeymoon in the same hotel where Gina and he had planned to spend theirs. Stinkyboy actually has the nerve to ask Gina to give up the honeymoon suite--it is still reserved under her name--so that he can spend he and his backstabbing wife can use it for their honeymoon (the nerve of him!) In a fit of pride, Gina tells him she has plans to use the suite.

She is there alone when the hero, Race shows up. Race is a delectable dish of manly dessert. Race is from Rent-A-Gent and has been hired to pretend to be Gina's hubby for the evening, so she can save face in front of her ex. Gina is reluctant at first, but Race challenges her to live on the wild side for a change and she capitulates (after all, living safely has only gotten her heartbreak so far.) It's made clear very early on, that Race is not who he says he is. Gina becomes suspicious of him, but a part of her innately trusts Race, even while she's unsure of his motives. There is an instant attraction between them, but aside from his physical attraction to Gina, Race feels oddly protective of her. True, Gina allowing Race to remain with her, after she knew he wasn't who he claimed to be and even sleeping with him, is a bit unrealistic, but I'm sure there are probably women in real life who would have reacted the same say...some people are just naïve. Furthermore, Gina is very quickly falling in love with Race, she feels safe with him, and he is extremely sweet to her. IMO, all that combined to overwhelm her natural good sense.

IMO, the most unrealistic aspect of the story is the fact that Gina and Race fell in love over a period of about two days. Nonetheless, even that is not so unbelievable. I met a lady once who told me her husband proposed a few hours after they'd met. They married two weeks later and at the time she told me her story, they'd been married over twenty years...so love at first sight, although rare, does happen. Moreover, once the entire story unfolds you realize that the many coincidences, are not actually coincidences at all, but are all part of a well laid scheme. In any event, this is a great story; it's well written, with extremely likeable characters, and an enthralling plot. I loved it and would highly recommend it. BTW this is not a clean romance, there is a love scene. Happy reading!
This was a cute story. We find Gina, who canceled her wedding just days before the ceremony, going on the honeymoon alone. She thinks her best friend has hired a rent-a-groom when Race knocks on the door of her hotel suite. Race is a Texas cowboy who cleans up nicely. Gina's ex-fiance rents the suite next door, Something strange is going on, but Gina can't figure it out. Is Race really a rent-a-groom? This is a good book, and well worth reading. The only complaint I have is the lack of editorial work that was done. There are numerous typos throughout the book. This is a big problem today.
